Bransby Horses, Rescue & Welfare

Welcome to our brand new mobile Folio:
Bransby Horses is dedicated to improving the lives of horses, donkeys and mules. With your support, we are working harder than ever to continue making positive differences to equines whenever we can. Founded in 1968 by Mr Peter Hunt, Bransby Horses is now one of the UK's largest equine welfare charities, currently caring for more than 400 animals.
This mobile Folio makes it so easy to spread the word about us, share with people you know and add it to the home screen of your mobile device.
Fifty Years Anniversary:
This year has seen us celebrate fifty years in existence since we were founded by Mr. Peter Hunt in 1968. To this day, we continue to pursue our goals for the benefit of the equines who need us most. When you attend our Visitor Centre, you'll be able to walk through and experience our 50 year exhibition display as well as witness the history right before your eyes.
Visit of 'Monty' Roberts (Friday Oct. 5, 2018):
We were privileged to be able to host a special visit from Monty Roberts whilst he was in the UK for his tour. Monty voiced how much he was impressed after he, and his Assistant, Joanna Lowes, were given a personal tour of the 50 Years History Exhibition by Kirsty Mathieson. Following this, Monty very kindly gave a few minutes to Graham Oxford (Photography Street) for some photographs in the outdoor seating area, as well as in front of the Visitor Centre before we all made our way to meet Caz Sykes (Deputy Farm Manager) for the Outdoor Tour of the Paddocks. During the tour, Monty expressed his delight at the facilities and the care that the staff here were providing. He showed great interest in hearing the history of the animals that he viewed and, at one point, one of our horses, Rose, approached the fence to engage in conversation with Monty right there on the spot!
Next, it was on to the Clifford Marshall Building for Monty's monologue and Q&A session with the lucky 50 people who received tickets for this unique event. Everyone in the room sat and listened intensely as he recalled his colourful life with a great deal of honesty and humour. After being enthralled by his stories of the various stages of his life, including how Her Majesty, The Queen became part of his life, the audience were invited to ask questions of Monty, when he was joined on stage by Kelly Marks (Intelligent Horsemanship), who has organised Monty's UK activities for 25 years. Monty answered all the questions asked of him in a comprehensive and enthusiastic manner; he even invited one lady from the audience, and her horse, to visit him at the Newark demonstration the following day!
This wonderfully intimate and charming event was concluded with Monty signing our Visitor's Book, giving out autographs and posing for individual photographs with all who desired one.
We would like to thank everyone who attended this event and we're delighted to announce that your kind donations raised an incredible £203.35. This will go directly for the care of the equines living here and allow us to continue the vital work helping to improve equine welfare
Monty, we're missing you already!

You Can Be A Part Of Bransby Horses Too.
We depend, solely, upon fundraising, legacies and donations.
This is a tale that has inspired many people never to give up doing the small things that, collectively, make a significant contribution:
Whilst walking along a beach, an elderly gentleman saw a small child picking something from the sand and throwing it into the ocean. The child was picking up starfish, one by one, and tossing each one gently back into the water.
The old man said hello to the child and asked “May I ask what you are doing?”
The child paused, looked up, and replied “I'm throwing the starfish back into the ocean.”
The old man smiled, and inquired, “But, why?”
To this, the child explained, “The sun is up and the tide is going out. If I don’t throw them in the water, they’ll die.”
The elderly observer raised his eyebrows in disbelief and commented, “But, can't you see that there are miles and miles of beach and thousands upon thousands of starfish stranded on the sand? You can’t possibly make a difference!”
The child listened politely. Then he bent down, picked up another starfish, threw it back into the ocean and said to the old man, “I bet I made a difference to that one!”
